Importing from MSFS Addon Linker

If you're switching from MSFS Addon Linker to PERFLIGHT, you can quickly import your existing library folders, location data, and presets in just a few clicks. This migration preserves your addon organization so you don't have to start from scratch.

What Gets Imported

When you import from MSFS Addon Linker, PERFLIGHT brings over three types of data:

  • Library Folders - Your custom addon folder paths (MyAddons paths) become PERFLIGHT “Libraries”

  • Location Data - Geographic coordinates for scenery addons are preserved for future map features

  • Presets - Your Addon Linker presets are converted into PERFLIGHT “Sets”, maintaining your addon groupings

How to Import

  1. Open the Welcome screen - Launch PERFLIGHT or click the Help icon in the navigation bar. You'll see an "Import from MSFS Addon Linker" option in the links section. If PERFLIGHT detects an existing Addon Linker installation, this option will be highlighted in orange.

  2. Review the preview - The import wizard shows exactly what will be imported: the number of addon folders found, addons with location data, and presets. You can expand the "Preview Libraries" section to see each folder path and its status (whether it already exists in PERFLIGHT or if the folder is missing from your system).

  3. Choose your options - The "Skip existing/duplicate folders" checkbox is enabled by default, which prevents re-importing libraries you've already added. Leave this checked unless you want to recreate duplicates.

  4. Start the import - Click "Start Import" to create your libraries. The process typically takes just a few seconds.

  5. Scan for addons - After import, click "Close & Start Scan" to let PERFLIGHT discover all the addons in your newly imported libraries. Once scanning completes, your presets will be automatically converted to Sets and location data will be applied to matching addons.

The import process will give you a preview of what will be created prior to scanning

Manual File Selection

If PERFLIGHT can't automatically detect your Addon Linker installation (for example, if you installed it on a different drive), you'll be prompted to browse for the configuration file manually. Look for MSFS_Addons_Linker.ini, typically located at:

[Install Drive]:\ProgramData\MSFS Addons Linker 2024\MSFS_Addons_Linker.ini

This video demonstrates how you can import Addon Linker data if the application is installed somewhere other than C:\ProgramData\MSFS Addons Linker 2024 by selecting the custom INI file. https://app.screencast.com/eyDWY7VYChmsh

After Import

Once the scan completes, you'll see a notification confirming how many Sets were created and how many addons received location data. Any addons that were enabled in Addon Linker (had active junctions in your Community folder) will automatically show as enabled in PERFLIGHT.

You can run the import again at any time if you add new libraries in Addon Linker - the "skip duplicates" option ensures only new folders are added.
